TUTORS NEEDED FOR
HOPE TUTORING PROGRAM

On September 23rd, FPCA will be starting up its sixth year of participation in the HOPE Tutoring Program.  HOPE Tutoring helps students in the 3rd through 8th grades with school work. Last year, HOPE continued its positive impact on the education of the young people of Arlington: 145 students participated in the program and more importantly 95% showed improvement in their report cards.

One of the challenges that the program has faced in recent years is a large backlog of students who help with homework, but must wait until tutors become available. In short, we need tutors.

Participation in the program requires one hour of time each week. Volunteers may tutor Tuesday or Thursday from 6:30PM-7:30PM at FPCA. Volunteers must also attend one of two orientation sessions at Good Shepherd UMC, 2020 S Collins:

·        New tutors: Tuesday, September 7th, 6:00 - 8:30P

·        Returning tutors: Thursday, September 9th, 6:30 - 7:30P

If you cannot make a full time commitment, please consider being a substitute tutor.
